Gastric Bypass Surgical Procedure For Food Craving Control

Some people who have tried and failed to control their weight through appetite suppression very well may be thinking about gastric bypass surgery. This surgery can often be the final hope for those who are not able to regulate their weight in some other way.

If you’ve been obese (with a body mass index of at least 40) for several years and have attempted without success to slim down, stomach reduction surgery or gastric bypass surgery can be a way to lower your consumption of food and allow you to lose weight.

Gastric bypass surgery is a major surgery and there are actually risks and complications involved. Some patients develop leaks from the stomach into the abdomen, blood clots within the lung, gallstones, anemia or osteoporosis. Fewer than 1 percent of patients die after the operation.

Your stomach is usually stapled or perhaps a plastic gastric band is used to fashion a tiny stomach pouch. Next part of your small intestine, beyond the duodenum, is attached to this stomach pouch. The initial part of the small intestine (the duodenum, where most chemical digestion takes place) is bypassed so a reduced amount of absorption of nutrients occurs.

The tiny stomach pouch can hold only a few ounces of food at any time this means you feel full quickly. You’ll consume a smaller amount and, hopefully, make more healthy choices for the food you consume. On balance, the results of less food intake and less absorption of nutrients means fewer calories and, as a consequence, weight loss.

After surgery you should try to start a program of regular exercise and give special attention to your nutritional plan to insure that you get the proper nutrients into your system. You’ll have to take vitamin supplements and may even require the help of a dietitian to ensure you receive optimal nutrition. You’ll also need to chew your food more completely to the consistency of a mush to help absorption. Your small stomach pouch will not be large enough to hold both liquids and solid food so that you won’t have the ability to drink fluids for at least a half an hour prior to or after a meal.

Because simple, refined, sugars tend to be absorbed promptly, chances are you’ll want to stay away from candy, ice cream, and soft drinks. What’s more, unabsorbed and undigested fats and starches enter the large intestine where microorganisms work to produce gas and bloating.

You’ll experience drastic changes in your lifestyle. You could possibly need counseling from a psychologist for a time to help you resolve the conditions that prompted you to eat too much together with help to adjust to your new eating and exercise approach to life.

Your gastric bypass operation does help nearly all patients shed 50-75 percent of their initial excess weight in the first two years. Following this time, when the stomach pouch expands, some patients may well see a increase in weight as they learn to increase food portions and take in extra calories in ways that avert the gas and bloating of the lower intestine.

While a gastric bypass surgery is absolutely not the best appetite suppression technique, it is usually a last resort if you have tried other methods without success.

Major Considerations When Choosing Food For Hiking And Camping

Other than camping tents and hiking boots, camping food is going to take a big part of your backpack real estate if you are hiking and camping. Camping food can be too heavy and take too much space if you’re not careful.

Weight is only one of the factors that you should base your choice of food on. There are other, more important criteria that ensure that you get a good source of energy.

In choosing which food to take, also consider nutritional value, palatability, ease of preparation and packaging.

Palatability

The camping food you bring has to agree with your taste, at least for its time a place. It may not be the dish you’d want to find at home but after a long grueling hike a simple hot dish can taste better than any dish in a fancy restaurant.

It doesn’t matter how nutritious the camping food is if a man won’t eat it. Remember though that your appetite may change after such strenuous exercise.

Nutritional value

Camping food with high nutritional value not only gives you more energy but also in addition to keeping your body strong, keeps your immune systems solid so you resist diseases better and makes you feel good too.

Weight

Camping food doesn’t have to take the biggest portion of your total backpack weight where you could have brought some other essential camping equipment.

Though dehydrated foods are light, tasty and nutritious, your camping food doesn’t have to consist of only this type. You could also bring along some cheese, energy bar and canned food but be aware of how much you carry and how heavy they are.

The rule of thumb is that with all your essential camping equipment and camping food your backpack should ideally be not more than a third of your weight.

Ease of Preparation

If your camping food takes more than an hour to prepare then reject it unless you are not hiking or just camping in a campground where there’s no rush to get food done quickly.

Hiking/Camping food is easily available in most if not all developed countries but be sure that you read the instructions on preparation. You’ll be surprised to see that some camping food preparation includes overnight soaking.

Packaging

When canned sardines and meat are part of your camping food consider how you will open them. Most canned food today don’t require any can opener to open but at times things can go wrong and an “easy-open can” may not be so easy to open so bring along a can opener just in case.

The other that you need to consider is how you will dispose of the packaging of your food after you’re done with it. Some hiking trails do provide some litter boxes but if they don’t you would have to carry your used food packaging until you find a suitable place to dispose them.

These five considerations are just guidelines but what works best for you is highly individual. Only by trial and error will you get the perfect camping food that suits your need as an individual. If you are beginner, just follow some guidelines (or not) and go camping and find out if the camping food is right for you.

What is the healthiest dog food

Some people think that just giving dogs regular food is best for them, like human beings dogs also need a healthy diet. Not all dog foods you find in the stores are good for our dogs; some of the ingredients found in these foods dont have any significance to the health of the dogs while some are harmful to the dogs. With Stemless Glasses carving out a solid and unique path in the wine landscape, more and more people are switching off that auto-pilot button and looking at this sparkling trend with a little more conscientiousness than before.

Were not saying that you should do away with traditional stemmed glasses altogether, because there are a few advantages that they still maintain over the stemless variety. Stemless Glasses should, although, definitely be considered as a complement to your existing glassware collection.

Wine Hints – What Other Food Can We Eat Apart From Red Meat With Red Wine

Having worked in quite a few restaurants, I was normally asked my suggestions on how finest to pair a glass or bottle of wine having a meal selection. What surprised quite a few of my guests was that I didn’t usually follow the rule of pairing red wine with red meat and white wine with white meat.

You can find a few reasons why, and here they are:

You Don’t Have to Follow Tradition
The greatest thing to remember is that just simply because folks have been pairing wine and food a particular way for having said that long does not mean you have to do so. You’ll be eating and drinking the selection, and in the event you think the Riesling sounds good with the New York strip, that is your organization and nobody else’s. Do not let persons searching at you funny discourage you from branching out and attempting new and diverse wines with your meal, even if the pairing you choose is something a bit out of the ordinary.

Wine Flights
Wine flights are rather preferred at quite a few wine intensive restaurants, as they let the restaurant provide a tiny selection of complimentary wines at a slightly increased price in the hopes that you are going to obtain a glass or bottle of one of the modest samples you tried. A growing number of, restaurants are pairing wine flights with their meals, as it benefits their bottom line. One factor to notice is that most wine flights offer you differing sorts of wine, be it a range of chiantis, a range of chardonnays, or a range of Italian, Australian, French, or Californian wine, which can consist of both red and white wine.

Employing wine flights is really an actually terrific method to learn if that genuinely dry chardonnay will in fact go well with your medium rare porter home though letting you attempt some other wines that might also work. Don’t be intimidated just due to the fact you do not recognize each and every type of wine in a flight. Branching out and trying new things is component of the fun of wine drinking.

Compliment or Contrast
Part of the art of pairing wine and food is deciding whether you would like the food to compliment or contrast the food you are offering. Even though you might be offering a sirloin that one would commonly pair with a nice dry red, if you’ve spiced that very same sirloin with peppers or seasoning that raises the heat of the steak, you may would like to pair it with a white wine that will help cut that spice and make the entire dining encounter additional enjoyable.

Though there is absolutely nothing wrong with having your wine compliment the meal you have prepared, picking a wine that contrasts your food is a fantastic way to broaden your horizons and to uncover new and exciting approach to take pleasure in your food and your wine, which is actually the most fun of pairing food and wine.

Blended Wines
Blended wines can mean anything from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio to something like a White Zinfandel or a Rose’. Blended wines like a Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio blend are unique in that they offer aspects of both wines, depending on the ration of every. White Zinfandel and Rose’ add an additional dimension in that they can pair well with lots of various food possibilities due to their distinctive flavor profiles. Although a lot of guys may not desire to be caught drinking pink wine, don’t rule out a fantastic Rose’ to go with some thing like prime rib if you’re thinking about trying something new.

Do What You would like
When it all comes down to it, it’s your funds and your palate. Only you are able to actually know what you like and what you believe will taste finest. Do not let anybody tell you differently and don’t be afraid to experiment both at restaurants and at house. Trying a new or unique pairing at home can often be a far better method to find out that something does not pair well as an alternative to at a restaurant where you are then stuck with something that doesn’t taste as great as it sounded at first.

How You Could Deal with the Spoiled Cat

What Should I Do With a Spoiled Kitten?

I’ve went through this phase of spoiling kittens and in the end, it is not really pretty, or cute, not at all. One thing I know for sure, they are so cute and so huggable and all you want to do is spoil them, (which will become a Hugh problem). This is the one thing you want to be very careful about, love them hug them but DO NOT spoil them, because if you keep spoiling them, they will never listen to you, not now or ever. If you spoil your kitten, they’re going to always ignore what you say, and ignore what you tell them to do.

They are not going to respond when you call their names, they can end up being so spoiled, that this cute, lovable kitten won’t do anything you tell them. They will become the dominant creature in your house, and all they will focus on is destroying your house and your surroundings.

Spoiled kittens will just turn their back on you. They won’t answer to their name when you call them. They will not show you any affection. They are not going to show you any attention. Spoiled kittens only do what they want, when they want. You will never be able to train a spoiled kitten. This will continue to happen, if you keep giving them everything that they want, and not what they need, they will continue to do whatever they want to do.

If you feed them table food, they will turn over your garbage. That’s called spoiling them. If you continue to take them to their water bowl or take them to their food bowl every day, they will come and get you before they go on their own to their kitty litter, water bowl or food bowl.

So you want to stop spoiling them. Set some boundaries and goals for yourself and your kitten so they will know the dos and don’ts, it only takes a couple of weeks to train them.

If you tell them no, make sure you stick with the word no. “No, you can’t do this,” “No, you can’t have that,” because as soon as you give in, they are going to destroy everything you have taught them, and all the goals you have set out to accomplish.

So stop spoiling your kitten. That’s the best way to do it. Set some goals.

Top 10 Must-not-miss Thai Food

Thai cuisine is one of the best gourmets in the world. It is well known for the diversity of ingredients, outstanding spiciness and ample medicinal properties. Most of Thai food is cooked and refined with more than two types of herbs or spices which are beneficial to health.

The (mostly unconscious) principle Thai food is the balance of five flavors which are spicy, salty, sweet, sour and bitter. The one indispensible ingredient which is generally used in seasoning a majority of Thai cuisine is fish sauce. Thai food is eaten either as a single dish or with rice. Steamed rice is the staple food although sticky rice is more popular in the north and northeast of Thailand.

Thai food is one of many things that you should not miss while you are traveling in this beautiful Land of Smiles. Since there are numberless delectable Thai dishes, I am writing this guideline for you to select the most distinctive and authentic ones out of the plethora of Thai signature dishes.
The following list is a top 10 rank of Thai food that you must not miss. The consideration and ranking is based on the popularity, uniqueness and authenticity of the delicacies. Here are the winners.

10. Kai Pad Med Mamuang Himmapan (Stir-Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts)
Even though Kai Pad Med Mamuang Himmapan does not represent the overview of Thai food but it is a very nice treat to your bland taste buds. Since it is by no means spicy or hot, this slightly sweet and salty chicken fried with crunchy cashew nuts is aptly satiating for children or beginners who are not used to spices.

9. Por Pia Tord (Fried Spring Roll)
Fried spring roll is one of the most popular appetizers among foreigners because it is not spicy and comes with sweet and sour dip. Spring rolls are crispy pastries with fried vegetable fillings. Though spring rolls are commonplace in many Southeast Asian countries, Thai Por Pia is different in flavors with a special dip prepared from Japanese apricot.

8. Panaeng (Meat in Spicy Coconut Cream)
Panaeng can be cooked using either pork, chicken or beef. Panaeng tastes like Thai red curry but the coconut milk sauce is relatively thicker and richer. Compared to Thai red curry, Panaeng is mildly spicy and sweet. Paneang is best served with warm steamed rice. There is nothing to dislike about Panaeng expect the fact that it can be too greasy or fleshy for some people.

7. Som Tam (Spicy Papaya Salad)
Som Tam is one of the most popular foods among Thai people for its fiercely spicy and sour flavors. Som Tam, which literally means Sour Pounded, is a spicy salad made from a mix of fresh vegetables including shredded unripened papaya, yardlong beans and tomato. Som Tam is unique that the spicy dressing and salad vegetables are pounded and mixed in the mortar using a pestle. Somtam is usually served with grilled chicken and sticky rice. Som Tam is good for your health that it contains no fat, low calorie and high vitamins. This is a truly authentic Thai dish that will make a great impression. The only reason why Im ranking Som Tam at No.7 (though it deserves higher rank) is its strong spiciness that might leave your tongue burned and swollen. Just say Mai phed (not spicy) to your waiter if you really want to try.

6. Moo Sa-Te (Grilled Pork Sticks with Turmeric)
This tantalizing sweet-flavored grilled pork sticks are refined with rich, juicy sauce made of turmeric and curry powder. Moo Sa-Te makes a savory hors d’oeuvres that will appease any taste buds. These juicy grilled pork sticks are usually served with two saucy dips one is a mildly spicy thick sauce with ground peanuts, coconut milk and curry powder and another one is a sweet and sour vinegar sauce with chopped shallot, pepper and cucumber to mitigate its oiliness.

5. Tom Yam Kai (Spicy Chicken Soup)
Chicken soup is very good to eat when you have a cold but Tom Yam Kai or spicy chicken soup is a yummy treat that you will fall in love with just in a first sip. Tom Yam Kai is a clear chicken soup seasoned with a blend of chili, lime and fish sauce. The broth is simmered with Thai herbs as lemon grass, shallot and galangal which give it a unique and satiating aroma. My foreign friends order this tasty soup anywhere they go so you should not miss it by any means!

4. Tom Kha Kai (Chicken in Coconut Milk Soup)
Although Tom Kha Kai is another variation of chicken soup, it deserves the No.4 because of its unparalleled taste and popularity. Similar to Tom Yam Kai, the broth is prepared with many types of Thai herbs with the special addition of coconut milk that makes this soup unique. Though the soup is seasoned with chili, lime and fish sauce just like Tom Kha Kai, thanks to the coconut milk, the broth is milder and less spicy. This is probably more liked by non-spicy eaters.

3. Kang Keaw Wan Kai (Green Chicken Curry)
Since we are having three dishes in a row made of Kai, you would have guessed that it is chicken in English. Not that chicken is particularly popular in Thai cuisine; it is usually used in most curry and soup. Kang Kiew Wan, literally translated as Sweet Green Curry, is nicely sweet and slightly spicy and tastes very delightful with a proper blend of the spiciness from green curry chili paste, blandness from coconut milk, sweetness of sugar and saltiness of fish sauce. It is usually eaten with steamed rice or served as a sauce to rice noodle known as Kanom Jeen likewise to how you eat Spaghetti.

2. Pad Thai (Fried Noodle)
This national dish prides itself for its long history traced back in previous centuries. Pad Thai flaunts the authenticity of Thai culinary arts in using only fresh and best ingredients and the well-balancing of the five fundamental flavors. The stir-fried noodle becomes popular because it tastes yummy and comes with a choice to add in a set of seasonings to suit your appetites. Through history, Pad Thai has evolved into two different styles: the classic and the variation. The classic Pad Thai is a stir-fried noodle with eggs, fish sauce, tamarind juice, red chili pepper plus bean sprouts, shrimp and tofu and garnished with crushed peanuts and coriander while another style is relatively dry and lightly-flavored. The latter is easily found in street vendors and dominant in Thai restaurants in the West but the having classic Pad Thai freshly cooked in its original country is a way to go.

1. Tom Yam Goong (Spicy Shrimp Soup)
No other dishes can defeat this renowned Tom Yam Goong as the optimal representative of Thai gourmet. Tom Yam Goong is truly one of a kind with its fierce spiciness and sourness and a blatant use of fragrant herbs including galangal, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, shallot, tamarind and chili pepper. There are two styles of Tom Yam; the clear spicy soup and thick spicy soup. The latter is cooked by adding coconut milk or milk to the broth in order to thicken the stock and give the dish a milder flavor. Tom Yam is very versatile and can be made with prawns, chicken, fish and mix of seafood, and mushroom. Tom Yam Goong is the most popular variety of Tom Yam since Spicy Shrimp Soup is the original. Though not very surprising, Tom Yam Goong is definitely a signature dish of Thailand.

Even though it is commonly known that Thai food utilizes many health herbs and spices, there have always been debates whether Thai food is really good for health since they tend to be somewhat greasy. It is important to note that it depends on each dish; some can be highly caloric but many dishes make a good use of herbs. Garlic, for example, is very good healthwise because it can prevent heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and cancer.

No matter what the food is, the same old concept of moderate intake comes into play. From Mcdonalds burger to Japanese Sushi, a key to optimal fitness is to avoid overconsumption. Thus, a claim that Thai food is mainly coconut-based and fattening should never be an adequate reason for you to still order a Big Mac. Ravish your taste buds with Thai food – tasty and healthy!

Food Poisoning In Restaurants – How To Take Action

Have you ever eaten at a restaurant and later became violently ill, even to the point of being hospitalized? If so, you may have been the victim of food poisoning due to the restaurant’s negligence regarding food safety rules and regulations, and may be entitled to compensation for your suffering and time off from work.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that there are approximately over 70 million incidences each year in the United States, with many of these cases going unreported because the individual affected was not aware that it was indeed caused by ineffective compliance to food safety rules. Symptoms of food poisoning include uncontrollable vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, and severe exhaustion. If you think you may have eaten contaminated food at a restaurant or any other establishment which serves food, you may be able to file a lawsuit and receive monies if you win the case against the negligent party.

Initially, what you should do if you think you are the victim of food poisoning is go to the hospital immediately to be diagnosed, documented and treated. Blood will be drawn from you and tested for pathogens which caused the food poisoning. It is important to your case to have documentation provided by a doctor that states you are indeed experiencing a bout of food poisoning after eating at a particular restaurant so state food regulators can examine the cleanliness of the restaurant.

The amount of the medical care necessary for you to fully recover from the food poisoning will be deemed your “damages” when you go to court, which is what you will ask the negligent party to compensate you with. Food poisoning, in legal terms, is actually considered a “tort”, or “unpremeditated negligence” on the part of the defendant, or the “tortfeasor”. As a person who experiences illness from a tortuous injury such as food poisoning, you will warrant compensation for your physical as well as emotional and financial (lost wages) damages the defendant has caused you to suffer.

You will need to file your lawsuit within one year (most states have a one year statute of limitations) in small claims court, but the sooner you file and retain a lawyer, the better your chances of winning the case. You do not have to have a lawyer but it is recommended since the origin of your illness must be shown that it was indeed the restaurant you had eaten at prior to becoming sick. There are attorneys which specialize in tort cases. In most states, if you are suing for more than $5,000, you will have to file your lawsuit in municipal court; anything above $25,000 and you will have file it in the Superior Courts. Since this is a civil lawsuit, the burden of evidence will be on you as the claimant. This is where having a good tort lawyer comes in, as he will be skilled in knowing what exactly is necessary to prove your case.
